Caesarean Scar Therapy
A caesarean birth is major abdominal surgery.
While your scar may appear small on the surface, multiple layers including skin, fascia, muscle and uterus have healed beneath it. Healing is not only about how a scar looks, but how it feels and functions over time.
Caesarean Scar Therapy is a gentle, clinically informed treatment designed to improve scar mobility, reduce discomfort and support your overall recovery.
I am a Caesarean Scar Specialist, trained with Restore Scar Therapy. Combined with my background as a midwife working extensively in caesarean theatre and postnatal care, I bring both surgical understanding and specialist scar training to this work.
This approach is trauma informed, consent led and always guided by your comfort.
If you are feeling tightness, discomfort or disconnection around your scar, you are not alone.
Your body has carried and birthed a baby through major surgery. It deserves skilled, respectful care.
If this feels like something your body may benefit from, you are very welcome to get in touch to discuss whether Caesarean Scar Therapy is right for you.
What Is Caesarean Scar Therapy?
This is not simply scar massage.
It is a structured, hands-on therapy that works with:
The scar itself
Surrounding fascia and abdominal tissue
Nervous system sensitivity
Gentle restoration of coordinated breathing and deep abdominal support
Functional movement patterns
There is also time within the appointment to reflect on your birth experience if you wish. For some women, the scar holds physical tension. For others, it carries emotional weight. Both are valid.
You Might Benefit If You Notice:
Numbness, itching or hypersensitivity
Pulling or tightness around the scar
A shelf or overhang above the scar
Lower back or pelvic discomfort
Difficulty engaging your lower abdomen
Discomfort during intimacy
Feeling disconnected from this part of your body
Even scars that look well healed can have underlying restrictions.
When Can I Start?
From 6 to 8 weeks post caesarean once fully healed
Months or years after your birth
It is never too late to improve scar mobility.
What Happens During a Session?
Each appointment includes:
A detailed history and discussion of your birth
Scar and abdominal assessment
Gentle, progressive manual techniques
Practical guidance for home support
Support with re-establishing deep abdominal and pelvic floor function in a safe and sustainable way
You remain in control throughout.
We move at your pace.
Why It Matters
Scar tissue can influence more than appearance. It may affect posture, core stability, pelvic floor function and overall body comfort.
Supporting scar mobility supports whole body recovery.
This is not cosmetic treatment.
It is restorative care for your body after surgery.
